Effects of Zofran on mother

NVP Counsellor
Date: 2008-01-11

Question:
How safe is Zofran on the mother? I've read the posts about its effects on the baby, but my wife has been on it via a subcutaneous pump and now through her PICC line going on 5 weeks and there are no plans for her to off of it until she delivers. Is this medication safe for the mother to be on continuously for 8 months? Are there any studies out there that have been longitudinal and followed women who have taken Zofran continuously throughout their pregnancies and monitored their health after wards? Citations? Thanks

Answer:
To our knowledge, there are no studies on the effects on the mother after taking Zofran throughout pregnancy
