Question:
I have had two pregnancies in the past both with HG. The first my insurance would pay for zofran and that seemed to help some the second was much much worse, vomiting often and sever nausea to point of home health nurse administering iv's daily until month 5. I was on phenegrin as our insurance at that time would not pay for zofran and it knocked me out and I hated it. It has been 5 years and we are wanting another child. Is there any new treatments or something I can do to get ready or to prevent HG from happening again? I am scared to death, and I would hate for my 5 and 6 year old to see me so sick, but we want more children? Not to mention I do work now and I cannot afford to take 5 months off. Any advise is greatly appreciated.
Answer:
There are no new treatments for NVP since you had your last baby. We suggest you start whatever treatment you choose, the moment you have any symptoms of NVP. Do not wait until it becomes severe
